Meet Edith Munguia, LMFT | Online Bilingual Anxiety and trauma Therapist in Bakersfield & Fresno | Online Across CA
Honest conversations. Deep therapy. A safe space for the messy, the real, and the ready.
I’m an online California-based therapist who specializes in anxiety, trauma, sleep, and immigration evaluations by providing direct, no-BS, and deeply compassionate therapy.
please Hear me when I say:
Remember a time when uncertainty, overthinking, and fear didn’t cloud your every decision … but those days feel like a distant memory. It’s like you’re always bracing for something, constantly stuck in your head, and totally drained from trying to hold it all together. Don’t you wish you had the tools to change that?
YOU DON'T NEED TO KEEP LIVING THIS WAY.
You just need a space where you can stop pretending, get honest, and start doing the deeper work. You’ve come to the right place.
I’m Edith, and I guide adults through the messy middle, out of survival mode and into a life that feels meaningful, joyful, and emotionally safe.
Together, we’ll untangle what’s been holding you back and help you reconnect with the version of you that’s been waiting underneath it all.
How I work
This isn’t cookie-cutter therapy.
No fluff, no scripts, just real and meaningful work that helps you move forward.
I help deep-feeling, overthinking adults untangle the messy stuff beneath the anxiety, burnout, past experiences, and emotional exhaustion. We get to the root of what’s keeping you stuck and help you free yourself from the internal negative chatter.
In our work together, we’ll figure out:
Why you keep repeating the same patterns
What’s driving the overthinking, self-doubt, or disconnection
And how to actually shift things without losing who you are in the process
I’ll guide you through a process that’s direct, trauma-informed, and tailored to you.
We’ll build practical tools, challenge old narratives, and develop new ways of coping that feel honest and feel more like you.
You’ll walk away with more clarity, stronger boundaries, and the confidence to live a life that actually feels like yours.
Therapy with me is…
-
I don’t do one-size-fits-all therapy. We’ll build something that fits you, your pace, your background, your real-life challenges. Every session is tailored to what you need, not what a textbook or others say you “should” be doing.
-
You’ll get real talk, not passive nods. I’ll show up fully, offer direct feedback when it’s needed, and create a space where truth leads to change. Growth happens when we stop bullshitting ourselves, and I’m here to help you get there. Learn more.
-
We’re not here to slap coping skills on top of chaos. We’ll dig into the why behind your patterns, explore the early stuff, and work through the emotional weight you’ve been carrying for too long.
-
This space is yours. No judgment, no pressure to show up polished. You’ll be met with real compassion and steady support as you work through the hard stuff. You don’t have to do it alone. I’ve got you.
-
As a BIPOC, immigrant, Spanish-speaking therapist, I know how culture, identity, and family dynamics shape how we show up in the world. This isn’t therapy that asks you to leave parts of yourself at the door. Here, you’re seen, respected, and fully valued.
A BIT MORE ABOUT ME (AND WHY I CARE)
I didn’t grow up in chaos, but I grew up small.
Raised by a conservative, anxious mom, I was taught that the world was dangerous, that being “good” meant staying quiet, and that challenging anything was off-limits. I learned to play it safe, stay in line, and disconnect from my own voice.
Therapy changed that.
It helped me see the cost of playing small and lit a fire in me to help others break out of the invisible boxes they’ve been living in, too.
I became a therapist because I know what it’s like to grow up in an anxious home where survival came first, and emotions weren’t always safe to express. I wanted to be the person I needed when I was younger, someone who could see beneath the strength, the silence, and the pressure to be “okay.” My own story, as an immigrant, a woman of color, and the child of anxious, hardworking survivors, shapes every part of how I show up for you.
Now, I work with adults who are tired of overthinking everything, keeping everyone else happy, and still feeling unseen. The high-functioning, emotionally intelligent ones who are quietly falling apart under the pressure to hold it all together.
I’ve helped clients go from barely holding it together to building lives that actually feel like their own. We’ve cleared out the emotional noise, dismantled the old narratives, and made space for something deeper, something real.
Sometimes that looks like setting a boundary without guilt. Sometimes it’s sleeping through the night for the first time in years. Sometimes it’s finally feeling safe enough to breathe, rest, speak up, or dream again.
Whatever it looks like for you, I help you find the clarity and courage to choose your life, one that isn’t built on survival, but on meaning, freedom, and self-trust.
If you’re looking for a therapist in Bakersfield, Fresno, or in the Central Valley who understands trauma, anxiety, sleep issues, or immigration evaluations, I’d be honored to work with you.

Are We a Good Fit?
It’s important that our work together feels right for both of us. Here’s a quick guide to see if you’ll know if this space is right for you:
We’ll probably work well together if…
✓ You’re tired of pretending everything’s fine and ready to get real.
✓ You want a therapist who will hold space and challenge you when it counts.
✓ You’re a deep thinker, feeler, or overanalyzer who’s craving more clarity and self-trust.
✓ You’re open to exploring how your past is still shaping your present, even if you don’t call it “trauma.”
✓ You’re done with surface-level advice and want therapy that actually goes there.
✓ You want someone culturally aware, emotionally grounded, and fluent in “cutting through the BS with care.”
✓ You’re ready to show up, do the work, and get honest with yourself, even if it’s uncomfortable at times.
✓ You prefer virtual therapy from the comfort of wherever you are. No commute. No waiting room. Just you, showing up as you are.
We might not be the best fit if…
✗ You’re looking for quick fixes or just want symptom management without going deeper.
✗ You’re uncomfortable with a therapist who swears occasionally or brings their full (human) self into the room.
✗ You’re expecting therapy to feel like a checklist, not a relationship.
✗ You’re not open to exploring how your internal world might need more attention than your external to-do list.
✗ You need therapy services covered by insurance (I’m a private pay provider, and you can request a superbill of you have OON benefits. Check your benefits with your insurance).
